Emirates' A380 network continues to expand

Emirates, the world's largest operator of the Airbus A380, yesterday announced Hong Kong as the newest destination for its super-jumbo. Emirates has a total of 12 A380s in service with 78 on order and Hong Kong will become the Dubai-based global airline's 11th A380 destination. On the 1st September Emirates launches flights to Dakar the Senegalese capital. Emirates, the Dubai-based international carrier, has announced the launch of second daily flights to Los Angeles and Houston. The award-winning airline, which recorded a significant increase in revenue for the Americas in 2009-10, will soon offer over 15,000 seats on 98 return flights per week to the United States. Etihad Airways has taken delivery of its first A330-200 freighter aircraft. Etihad is the launch customer for the freighter which made its maiden flight from Airbus in Toulouse to the airline's base in Abu Dhabi on Monday, 9 August, evening. 55,000 air traffic movements in UAE July

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has announced that air traffic movement in the UAE grew at 11.9% in July 2010 compared to the same month last year. The GCAA monthly report indicated that total air traffic movements in July 2010 were around 55 thousand, compared to around 52 thousand in June 2010.
